Applying CDC Guidelines to Classroom Device Deployment

Don’t:

  • Permit students to crowd around laptop carts
  • Send groups to retrieve devices all at once
  • Share devices without disinfecting between use
  • Share charging carts between student cohorts or “pods” without thoroughly disinfecting first
  • Forget to consider the teacher’s risk if they must touch and distribute devices or manage deployment
  • Underestimate the amount of additional time a safer deployment takes with traditional carts

Do:

  • Ensure proper social distancing between students during deployment (6 feet apart)
  • Separate charging stations when possible to ensure social distancing
  • Individually assign each student their own device and charging shelf/slot
  • Ensure the student can easily identify their device to retrieve/return their own device
  • Disinfect devices daily, or between each use if they are shared devices
  • Consider the teacher’s risk if they must touch and distribute devices or manage deployment
